ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Samburu Cowboys is an amateur American Football Team of Samburu morans located at Archer’s Post town in Samburu County in Kenya. It was founded by a group of warriors passionate about the game with an intention of using it to enrich the lives and livelihoods of its members and community at large. The spirit of the game has attracted many like minded morans into the gradually growing fold of American football fans amongst them. The organization initially began with 11 members of Kalama Conservancy but now boasts 450 members who are primarily involved in its projects of awareness to combat desertification,promote sports and cultural tourism besides waging war on negative and retrogressive cultural activities like cattle rustling and female genital mutilation. The organization draws membership from Kalama, Westgate and Namunyak community conservancies. More morans from other conservancies like Meibae and Mpus Kutuk have shown willingness to become part of it. The organization is actively involved in conservation of the community’s positive cultural norms that are in danger of extinction. Its is registered in Kenya at the Ministry of gender,sports and social development as a CBO.

4.Wildlife conservation to combat poaching through community education.

4.Cultural conservation:safekeeping of Samburu cultural items facing extinction.
